Choosing a mehndi artist in Chandigarh for your design

Arabic mehndi has bold flowers, leaves and open spaces, and it looks stylish even on one side of the hand. It is quick to apply and is perfect for guests, college girls and anyone who wants a modern look. Full hands mehndi covers the front and back up to the wrist and suits sisters and close family at a wedding.

Bridal mehndi covers the hands up to the elbows and the feet, with dense traditional patterns like paisleys, mandalas, jaali work and doli or baraat motifs. Premium bridal mehndi adds detailed figures, portraits of the couple and a custom story, such as how you met or your city skylines. Many brides also like the fun custom of hiding the groom's name in the design.

When choosing an artist, look at the fineness of lines, how even the spacing is and how clean the details are on photos taken without heavy filters. Ask how long a design will take, so you can plan your day.

How long bridal mehndi takes, and when to apply it

Arabic mehndi on both hands usually takes 20 to 40 minutes. Full hands take about an hour. Bridal mehndi up to the elbows and on the feet can take 4 to 6 hours, and premium designs with figures can take longer depending on the detail.

Apply bridal mehndi one or two days before the wedding. Mehndi colour deepens over 24 to 48 hours, so it will be at its darkest on the wedding day. If you apply it the night before, the colour may still be light when the pheras begin.

Plan the mehndi day around the long sitting time. Eat before you start, keep water with a straw nearby, use the washroom before the feet are done and keep someone with you to help. Wear loose, comfortable clothes with sleeves that do not come down to your wrists.

Tips for a deep, dark mehndi colour

Start with clean, dry skin. Do not apply lotion, oil or cream on your hands before mehndi. Get any waxing, manicure or pedicure done a day or two before, not after, because scrubbing will fade the colour. Our manicure and pedicure at home can be booked for the days before your mehndi.

Keep the mehndi on for at least 6 to 8 hours, or overnight if you can. Dab a little lemon and sugar mix on it once it starts drying, so it sticks longer. When you remove it, scrape it off gently instead of washing. Try to keep water off your hands for the next 12 to 24 hours.

Warmth helps colour. In the Chandigarh winter, keep your hands warm and away from cold water. In summer, mehndi dries fast, so the lemon-sugar step matters more. Colour also differs naturally from person to person, and it is usually darker on the palms than on the arms.

Mehndi for festivals, functions and family

For Karwa Chauth, Teej, Diwali and Eid, most women want quick, pretty designs done the day before. These days are very busy, so book a few days in advance, especially if several women in the family need mehndi.

For a mehndi function, we can send more than one artist so the bride and the guests are done together. Tell us the number of guests and the style for each, and we will plan the time. Pair it with party makeup for the sisters and cousins on the same day.

We come to homes, banquet halls and farmhouses in Chandigarh, Dera Bassi, Zirakpur, Mohali, Panchkula and nearby areas, with no travel fee within these areas.

Mehndi Artist — FAQs

What is the price of bridal mehndi in Chandigarh?

It depends on the coverage and the detail. Bridal mehndi covers the hands up to the elbows and the feet, while premium bridal mehndi adds figures, portraits and a custom story. Arabic and full-hand designs for guests take less time. Our prices are starting prices, we share the exact quote before you book and you pay after the service. See our price list.

How many days before the wedding should I apply mehndi?

One or two days before the wedding is ideal. The colour gets darker over 24 to 48 hours, so it looks its best on the wedding day.

How long does bridal mehndi take?

Bridal mehndi usually takes 4 to 6 hours for hands and feet. Premium designs with figures and portraits can take longer, so plan a relaxed day.

Can you do mehndi for all the guests at our function?

Yes. Tell us the number of guests and the type of design, and we will send enough artists so everyone gets mehndi in good time.

Is your mehndi safe for sensitive skin?

If you have sensitive skin or any allergy, please tell us when booking. The artist can apply a small test dot first so you can check before the full design.

Do you come to Dera Bassi and Zirakpur for mehndi?

Yes. We cover Dera Bassi, Zirakpur, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and nearby areas, with no travel fee within these areas.
