If you are planning bridal or party makeup, get your brows threaded two to three days before the event. This gives any redness time to fade and lets your makeup artist work on a clean, defined shape.

Threading or Rica Face Wax?

Threading is precise. It is the best choice for eyebrows and for coarse or dark hair on the upper lip and chin. It uses no chemicals, so it suits most skin types, though some people feel more sting around the upper lip.

Rica face wax covers the whole face quickly and works well on fine, soft hair. It also lifts away some dead skin, so the face can feel smoother. If you get small bumps after threading, or your skin reacts to it, Rica face wax is worth a try. Eyebrows are still best shaped with thread.

Most women need eyebrows every two to three weeks and upper lip every two to four weeks. Since threading takes only a few minutes, many clients add it to a facial or waxing appointment so everything is done in one sitting.

Before and After Threading

Come with a clean face, without heavy cream or makeup on the brows. If you have used retinol or any strong skin cream recently, tell us — the skin may be more delicate. Sit near a window or bright light so we can see every fine hair.

After threading, keep makeup, steam and direct sun away from the area for a few hours, and try not to touch or scratch it. In hot, sweaty summer months, dab the area with a clean tissue rather than your fingers to avoid small bumps.
